Measurements are in millimetres and pieces enter as rectangles (the box that wraps the stone). In the full Marmos the plan is born from the approved drawing, with cut-outs, aprons and backsplashes already counted, and it picks from the slabs your shop actually holds.

A cut tree, not loose boxes

Every score splits one rectangle into two, and that is all there is. The arrangement is guillotine by construction: a plan a bridge saw cannot cut is inexpressible, so there is nothing to validate and nothing to repair afterwards.

The cutting sequence comes for free

The numbers on the drawing were not written by hand: the order is the traversal of the tree. C1, C2, C3 — literally the order the saw scores the slab in.

Every offcut is an exact rectangle

The leftover is not the "largest inscribed rectangle" in an irregular polygon: it is a real rectangle, with a measurement, that goes back to the yard and can be used on the next order.

The kerf leaves the arithmetic, as it does in life

The blade thickness is consumed at every score. The two sides of a cut add up to the width minus the kerf, never the whole width — which is why the numbers match the real slab and not the spreadsheet.

Trim is the first cut, not a margin

The raw edge leaves the quarry chipped and out of square. Trim enters as the first score in the sequence, and an edge that already came good can be skipped.

Stone with a vein does not rotate

Mark the vein and that piece loses the right to turn 90°. Yield drops a little and the continuity of the stone's pattern is kept — which is what the customer will be looking at in the finished kitchen.

In the system, the same plan becomes real work.

Inside Marmos the pieces are not typed in: they come from the approved drawing, with cut-outs, aprons and backsplashes already counted.

Stock is drawn down

On confirmation the slab is consumed, the leftover becomes a new slab pointing at its mother, and both sides are recorded.

The plan picks from the slabs the shop actually holds, each with its own measurement and photo — not a generic slab.

Cut map and DXF

The same order yields the shop-floor sheet, with dimensions and marked edges, and the DXF in millimetres for the CNC.

Questions about the cutting plan

Is the simulator really free?
It is. No sign-up, no email, and it runs entirely in your browser — none of the measurements you type leave your device.
Why does the bridge-saw strategy yield less than the CNC one?
Because it is deliberately more conservative. On a bridge saw the bottleneck is the operator, who pushes 300 kg of stone at every turn, so the plan uses shelves: one cross cut end to end opens the band, and inside it there are only rips. Fewer axis changes, and the slab barely turns. On a CNC cutting is cheap, so it is worth using free rectangles, making more cuts and yielding more.
What is the kerf and why does it change the result?
The kerf is the blade thickness — the band of stone the cut eats and that disappears. On a common bridge saw it is 3 mm. It sounds small, but on a slab with twenty scores that is 6 cm of granite that exists in no piece, and it is the most common gap between what the spreadsheet promises and what the slab delivers.
What is the difference between an offcut and scrap?
An offcut is usable leftover: a rectangle above the floor the shop set, which returns to the yard as a new slab. Scrap is what lies inside the piece's rectangle and outside its outline, plus whatever trim and kerf ate — stone nobody can free. Returning scrap to stock would promise slab that does not exist.
Can I cut from this result?
You can decide and quote from it: how many slabs to buy, whether that offcut solves it, how much is lost. To take it to the shop floor you still need what only the order has — the piece with its cut-outs and finishes, the sheet with dimensions and the DXF. That is what the full Marmos does.
